Donal O’Cofaigh is standing as a Cross-Community Labour candidate for the Fermanagh and South Tyrone constituency in the Assembly election on May 5th. We are reaching out to you to ask for your support.
Cross-Community Labour is a genuine attempt to bring together activists from a range of backgrounds. This includes socialist and labour activists, trade unionists, community campaigners on issues such as hospital closures, fracking and gold mining, and campaigners for the rights of young people, LBGTQ + people, minorities, and refugees.
We have come together with a common purpose and a shared set of values. We believe that we will only find a way forward if we build on the third tradition in our community: the tradition of working-class unity, common struggle, and labour and socialist politics.
There are a number of ways in which you can help:
Add your name to the list of supporters
In the April newsletter attached to this email you will see a list of supporters. This has been delivered to doors across the constituency. The names in the newsletter are drawn from a longer list, which we will publish on Donal’s website. if you are willing to add your name, please reply to this email and state your union or other affiliation and whether this ought to be noted as in a personal capacity.
Make a financial donation
Election campaigns are expensive. We don’t want to cut any corners if we are to reach as many voters as possible. If you are willing to make a donation you can inform us by replying to this email and use the payment facilities below. We will account for any donations of course.
Become involved in the campaign
It would be great if you could travel to the constituency and assist with door-to-door canvassing or distributing leaflets in in the constituency. It is also important that we generate as many positive conversations as possible and if you know anyone in the constituency (a trade union colleague, a friend or family member) please send them the attached material and ask them to consider voting for Donal.
Think about the future
Finally, this election campaign is about the future.
Cross-Community Labour intends to stand candidates across Fermanagh and South Tyrone at the next local elections in May 2023. We also hope to stand candidates more widely and will enter into conversations and discussions to further this aim after the election.
